Defending champion Eric Locke of Digby Pines coasted to victory Thursday in the final round of the boys Nova Scotia Golf Association junior championship Thursday at the Seaview Golf and Country Club in North Sydney.

Locke, who led by four strokes going into the final 18 holes, posted a one-over par round of 72 to finish at minus-five for the 72-hole tournament and six shots ahead of second-place finishers Eric Banks of Truro and Ken-Wo’s Ally Tidcombe. Banks posted a 74 in the final round while Tidcombe carded a 71.

Ken-Wo’s Sam Holland, who won last week’s NSGA men’s amateur championship, was fourth, 12 strokes off the pace.

On the girls’ side at Seaview, it wasn’t a matter of if Bedford’s Irene Jung of Links at Penn Hills would win her second-straight junior girls title, but by how much.

The 15-year-old has watched her lead grow after every round and Thursday she carded a one-over 72 to finish the tournament at plus-16, 24 strokes better than Brynn Tomie of Northumberland.
