Degrassi grad gets around in her Mazda

Who she is:
Paula Brancati, the Canadian actress whose most notable role is in Degrassi: The Next Generation. Brancati is currently starring in Nora Ephron’s play Love, Loss, and What I Wore, along with Andrea Martin, Mary Walsh, Louis Pitre and Sharron Matthews.

What she drives
A dark blue 2008 Mazda 3.

What drew you to this car?
I wasn’t really picky. I don’t know much about cars, but I needed a car. I commute and do a lot of driving so I wanted something small that would be easy to park anywhere in the city, and my only criteria was that it needed a dark interior and a sunroof (laughs). But I’d heard good things about the Mazda 3 for a long time from lots of people.

Are you happy you got the Mazda 3?
Yeah, I love it. It’s great on the highway, it’s a really fun drive for me and I love the sunroof. It’s great to have open when you’re driving and listening to tunes.

What’s your favourite feature?
The sound system is fantastic. I listen to music really loudly and sing along so I needed to make sure the car had a good sound system.

What kind of driver are you?
(Laughs) I don’t know. I’m just thinking of what my friends would say if they read this. It varies. When I first started driving, I was definitely more cautious. I guess it depends on the weather. If it’s really good weather and I’m on the highway, it’s tempting just speed along. I’d say I’m a pretty cautious driver.

Do you have a dream car if money was no object?
I was really obsessed with the movie Salina based on the artist and she talks about if she ever became able to, she would buy a red Porsche. And that became my dream car ,and I think that still stands. I actually got to drive one in Degrassi Takes Manhattan (the CTV original movie). My character steals a red Porsche and I got to just speed down this street that they closed down for shooting. It was pretty amazing.
