Program helps put smiles on less fortunate people
A group of dentists are trying to put smiles on the faces of the less fortunate, offering free treatment for those who can’t afford to see a dentist.
The B.C. Dental Association held a screening clinic yesterday for about 60 people needing urgent treatment for broken teeth, infections and cracked fillings.

“I’m here to fulfil my commitment to dentistry,” said Dr. John Nasedkin, a volunteer.
Nasedkin was matching patients in need with volunteer dentists for Community Dental Day on April 18.
“One of the things about dentists is that we have a very collegial community … this is a wonderful way to give back.”
Marcelina Manalo, who was at the clinic to get her dentures adjusted, said she was on disability leave and could not afford a dentist.
She was grateful to the volunteers and called them “warm-hearted people.”
