A damaged and desecrated statue — possibly of Asian religious descent — has been found just outside the city on Monday, according to RCMP.
Strathmore RCMP Const. Tyler Cooke said a worker found the statue hidden in bushes along Range Road 275 just off McKnight Boulevard. on Monday morning.
“It was hidden and had broken pieces that were stuffed back inside the statue,” Cook said.
“I’m ninety per cent sure this is a religious statue and it seems there was criminal intent.”
Cooke said that the RCMP would like to find the owners of the statue.
Cooke said a photo will be released to the public in several days if nobody claims the property.
The statue was described as three feet tall and two feet wide and extremely heavy, possibly weighing over 200 pounds.
