NDP Leader Darrell Dexter promised Thursday to create 250 new seats at Nova Scotia Community Colleges campuses to attract and keep more young people in the province.
Two thousand qualified students were turned away last year due to lack of spots open at campuses across the province, a news release said, adding there are currently waiting lists for programs ranging from continuing care to carpentry.
“This NDP commitment will reduce community college waiting lists,” Dexter said in the release.
“Our plan will give more young people access to training in high-demand trades, an important route to secure jobs.”
