Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter has a date with the Saint Mary’s Huskies and the University Cup today at Province House in Halifax.

The Huskies captured the top prize in Canadian Interuniversity Sport men’s hockey on Sunday with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Alberta Golden Bears in Thunder Bay, Ont.

It was the first national hockey title in the school’s history and the Huskies’ fifth appearance in the championship game.

A ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Dexter will read a statement, followed by photographs with the team in the Red Room.

The Huskies were scheduled to fly back into Halifax last night. The Saint Mary’s community is also celebrating the victory on Thursday at 5 p.m. at The Tower.
