Diana’s one-time private secretary says the late Princess of Wales believed that Prince Philip was angry at her as her marriage to Prince Charles disintegrated.
Patrick Jephson says he saw some of Philip’s letters to Diana, describing them as “well-intentioned.”
But he told the inquest into her death yesterday that Diana appeared to register only what she chose to see as an unsympathetic tone in the correspondence.
Jepson, Diana’s private secretary from 1990 until January 1996, says Diana saw plots everywhere and that astrologers and soothsayers fed the paranoia that never lurked far below the surface in her.
Diana, her companion, Dodi Fayed, and their driver, Henri Paul, died in a Paris car crash in August 1997.
