During the heady years of 2005 and 2007 when Kate Moss and musician Pete Doherty were dating and briefly engaged to be married, tabloids obsessively followed the couple's ambulations from music festival to London party and speculated on their rumored love of heroin.
But the relationship also had a dark side, Doherty has claimed in a recent interview that Moss destroyed his childhood teddy bear -- "Pandy."
"It's a big, genuine and totally heartfelt regret that I didn't keep my eye on Pandy, who was my first-ever teddy bear. My sister gave him to me as a huge gesture of love and kinship," Doherty told British magazine Event.
After their break-up in 2007, Doherty claims, Moss was so filled with rage for her former lover that she set fire to many of his possessions.
Pandy was one such victim.
Doherty told Event that Moss wanted to cause "as much emotional damage as possible":
"I held on to Pandy all my life but he ended up getting burned by Kate, along with a lot of other stuff, when we split up. … There was no need for that unless she simply wanted to cause me as much emotional damage as possible."
Perhaps the agony of that loss will go into some of Doherty's songwriting.
