Here’s a reason to postpone your diet. Restricting calories in the winter could leave you more susceptible to the flu.
A new U.S. study has found that mice were less able to fend off the influenza virus if they were on a calorie-controlled diet.
Researchers at Michigan State University who conducted the study warned that low calorie diets may inhibit the body’s natural killer cells to fight infection.
Authors suggest waiting until warmer weather to restrict calories, since the flu virus is so virulent in the winter.
