Disturbance takes place at Citadel High School

Halifax Regional Police say “a disturbance” took place Thursday morning at Citadel High School resulting in the arrest of one male and the school’s liason officer being “confronted by a number of youths.”

Const. Brian Palmeter of Halifax Regional Police said the disturbance took place shortly after 10:30 a.m. with the liason officer being confronted by the youths after arresting the male.

“They were basically challenging his authority and acting in an aggressive manner towards him,” Palmeter said. “Additional officers were requested and attended, and within a couple of minutes, everything was restored to order.”

Palmeter said the arrested youth was turned over to his mother and there has been no determination of any charges being laid.

Police were also called to the school on Wednesday to deal with a fight, but Palmeter doesn’t know if Thursday’s incident was related to that disturbance.

“Basically the disturbance that started all of this is an on-going dispute between two groups of youths at the school,” Palmeter said.
