Diverse options for voters in Ward 12

Southwest Edmonton’s Ward 12 is home to more than 64,000 residents, many of whom have safety on their minds.

While the city attempts to limit urban sprawl, Ward 12 is made up of newer communities and a wide range of ethnicities.

The area is expected to keep growing, along with crime.

Amarjeet Sohi is hoping for a second term as councillor.

Sohi has a background in community advocacy and worked for Edmonton Transit for almost a decade.

Vikram Bagga is the owner of Bagga Jewellers. His platform includes affordable housing, better transit for Millwoods and community safety.

Gerry Horn is new to the political game, aside from volunteering in a previous election.

Horn’s goal is to bring accountability and common sense to council.

Chuck McKenna ran for city council in 2007, coming in fourth in Ward 6.

A resident of the area, McKenna is also a longtime member of the Millwoods Little League Board.

The Ward 12 public forum was held Oct. 5, but can be viewed online at www.edmonton.ca.
