Diversity on the menu

With the sixth annual EAT! Vancouver starting today, food skeptics can finally step out of their comfort zone and taste more exotic fares.

The three-day event will feature celebrity chefs Anna Olson, Naz Cavallaro, Bob Blumer and Vancouver’s own Rob Feenie.

Blumer, known as The Surreal Gourmet, said Vancouver is a great “foodie” city.
“I have four nights and I can’t cram all the places I want to go,” Blumer said. “It’s just so ethnically diverse. There are great chefs, great products.”

At EAT! Vancouver, visitors will get the chance to try more than a dozen Lower Mainland restaurants appy-size offerings for $1 to $4 per item. Wineries and breweries will have drinks for thirsty visitors.

In addition, nearly 200 exhibit booths showcasing products that range from gourmet foods to barbecues will be available for visitors wanting to enjoy a little shopping. Wine and cheese seminars, chef competitions, and barbecue and chili cook-offs will also be at the food show.

EAT! Vancouver runs until Sunday at B.C. Place Stadium. Tickets are available at the door or online.
