Police are turning to the public to help solve a homicide in East Uniacke.

Police are turning to the public to help solve a homicide in East Uniacke.

People riding all-terrain vehicles discovered a body on Sunday. It was found about 100 yards into the woods on a well-used path that runs along the East Uniacke Quarry.

The RCMP ruled the man’s death a homicide on Monday, but are still not releasing the man’s name, age or ethnicity.

“The investigation is continuing and we’ll be re-evaluating that at a future date if there is an opportunity for us to release the identity of the deceased,” said RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Bridgit Leger.

She also wouldn’t confirm if police know the identity of the man.

An autopsy was underway yesterday afternoon in Halifax.

“The last I spoke with the investigators it was not completed so I don’t have what, if any, information was gleaned from the autopsy,” she said.

The quarry reopened yesterday after being shut down for investigators on Monday.

Meanwhile, Leger said investigators are asking for anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious near the gravel quarry on the weekend to come forward to police.

“Every single piece of information is vital because a person may not realize they may be holding the one, little piece of information we need to be solving the crime and arresting the individual or individuals responsible for this crime,” she said.
