Dog OK after cruel attack

After having his stitches removed yesterday, Eddie the dog is on the road to recovery.

On Aug. 8, Amy Gill was driving into town from her rural property in Okotoks when she saw Eddie wandering on the road about three kilometres from home.

“I got out to grab him and put him in the car to take him home and I noticed the arrow sticking out,” said Gill.

Her husband, Paul, and her sister-in-law rushed the four-year-old Great Pyrenees to the C.A.R.E. Centre Animal Hospital, where Eddie underwent surgery.

“For six hours we sat here wondering what Eddie’s fate was going to be,” said Gill.

He is now recovering from the surgery, but Okotoks RCMP are looking for leads as to who may have shot Eddie.

“We did follow up on a couple (of) leads, but have since ruled those out,” said Const. Kristen Ryan of the Okotoks RCMP.
