Calgary firefighters managed to save a dog from a burning car Friday.

Just after noon, firefighters got a call about a burning car in the Home Depot parking lot on Macleod Trail and 61 Avenue.

Bystanders had unsuccessfully attempted to douse the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

The crew quickly put the fire out and managed to save the dog, Cody. The dog was uninjured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and is believed to be mechanical in nature.
