The RCMP is investigating threats made to Vancouver Liberal MP Ujjal Dosanjh on a Facebook page, which suggested he be shot.
The comment has since been taken down from the page, which was called “Ujjal Dosanjh is a Sikh Traitor.”
Dosanjh, former premier of British Columbia, is an outspoken opponent of Sikh extremism.
Last week, an organizer of an annual Vaisakhi parade in Surrey told a local radio host that Dosanjh ought to bring his own security to the event.
The organizer later apologized for the comment, which was interpreted by some as a threat.
Controversy has surrounded that parade for several years because it features and glorifies images of Sikhs who have been responsible for violent acts.
In 1985, Dosanjh was badly beaten in an attack because of comments he made condemning Sikh extremism.
