Lectures in movie theatre, free films part of AMC deal
In principle, some say it’s wrong to hold lectures in a movie theatre. But for Ryerson students getting a fancy new digital movie complex on campus that will double as classrooms before matinees begin, free movie passes and a student discount are helping to sweeten the reviews.
Ryerson will hold morning lectures in 12 of the 24 theatres in the all-digital AMC multiplex located in the Toronto Life Square building at Yonge St. and Dundas St. AMC will let Ryerson students into movies free this weekend and give them a $2 discount on $13 tickets next year.
It is the second time the cramped downtown campus has used movie theatres for overflow classes in recent years; it used nearby Carlton Cinemas during the 2003 double cohort crunch when the last of Ontario’s Grade 13s graduated alongside the first of the new four-year grads.
