Doucet holds head high after election loss

Dozens of supporters for Clive Doucet, young and old, burst into loud cheers and applause as the candidate entered his crowded campaign office last night after watching the results of the election unfold on screen.

Doucet got about 14.9 per cent of the votes in last night’s election.

“We didn’t lose, we just didn’t win,” he told the bustling crowd of supporters. There was an unending positive energy throughout the crowd as people were smiling and the wine was flowing.

A proud Julian Doucet was there, along with other family members, to show support.

“I think if we had one more week we would have seen very different results,” said Julian, Doucet’s son.

Doucet said he felt he had a good chance of becoming the next mayor.

“I honestly thought he had a chance,” said Doucet supporter Brad Morehouse. “He may have lost but he’s really gracious … he’s really honest, to the heart, and he’s just a really good guy.”
