Go back to the ’50s tonight with the outfits, the movie and the roller girls.

Deerfoot Mall is transforming the parking lot into a scene from Grease for the première of their three-week Deerfoot Mall Drive-in Movie Series kicking off tonight on a movie screen over three storeys tall.

Marketing director Laura Ezinga encourages Calgarians to dress up ’50s style and come out for the free event that will also feature up to 30 Roller Derby Girls rolling around the parking lot.

“The evening will be about nostalgia and people can dress up and have a good time. We’re going to have old time cars and a Show and Shine too,” she said, adding car enthusiasts will also be out with the coolest hot rods.

“This is definitely a fun event people won’t want to miss.”

Roller Derby character Lexi Fatale said she and the other girls are looking forward to the fun night because it gives them a chance to dress up — their favourite thing to do.

“We’re just really looking forward to coming out and having a blast skating around,” she said.

Grease will be playing tonight, next Wednesday will be Coraline and the Wednesday after will be 17 Again.
