A man is in custody today after shooting pepper spray in the face of a fellow driver, Halifax police say.

 

Friday night, at about 10 p.m., police say the victim was driving on South Park Street when he was called a racial slur by another driver.

 

He was then hit with the pepper spray.

 

The victim was able to provide suspect and vehicle descriptions to officers and the man was found nearby and arrested.

The vehicle was searched and the pepper spray was recovered along with a small quantity of marijuana, police say in a release.

The Halifax man is facing charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
