Drivers are being “strongly advised” by the City of Vancouver to avoid the Burrard Street Bridge this weekend.
Starting tomorrow at 6 p.m., city crews will start preparing the bridge and adjacent streets for a bike lane trial that begins on Monday.
The work will restrict parking on West 1st Avenue and pedestrians will be directed to the sidewalk on the bridge’s west side.
Barriers and signs will also be installed across the span and result in extensive lane closures and traffic disruptions.
Pacific Street, between Thurlow and Seymour, will see intermittent lane closures today and tomorrow for repaving. The city is asking drivers to also avoid this area on Sunday night when new lines will be painted.
