It turned downtown streets into an obstacle course and drivers into unwilling contestants in a game of Get Me Out of Here.

For the second time in three weeks a marathon pounded down Yonge Street yesterday, cutting the city in half and causing traffic mayhem. Shortly before 11 a.m. one driver, stalled on Yonge, looked to a police officer for help.

“Take the DVP,” the officer suggested.

“I thought the DVP was closed.”

Nope. But it will at noon — better get moving. The Don Valley Parkway from the Gardiner to Eglinton Avenue was scheduled to close all day yesterday for pavement resurfacing and markings. Later, the shutdown was limited from noon to 5 p.m.

“It happens every weekend in this city,”?said driver John Glover. “There’s always something.”
