Dunbrack wins to keep pace with Suburban

Halifax Dunbrack City Mazda racked up its eighth win of the summer on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over the Highland Knights, improving to 8-2 for 24 points.

That puts Dunbrack in a first-place tie with Suburban, also 8-2.

Dunbrack has lost in three straight provincial finals while Suburban is a new entry in the Premiership.

The two teams are scheduled to meet each other on Sunday, July 25 at Weir Field.

Defending champion Halifax City Elephant and Castle lost 2-0 to Cape Breton on Saturday and is fifth with a 4-4 record.

Lower Sackville’s Devereaux brothers are in the chase for the Golden Boot.

Defending winner Ali, with six goals, and multi-time winner Ryan, with seven, are on a tear with Halifax Dunbrack halfway through the season.

Ryan is back in the league after several years away.

Suburban’s Mesut Mert leads the Premiership in goals with nine tallies.
