Dunbrack women aim high

Halifax Dunbrack Rooms Plus is gunning for gold at the Jubilee Trophy Canadian women’s soccer championship.

Dunbrack, which followed up Halifax City’s gold-medal showing in 2008 with bronze in 2009, opens the event tomorrow against Winnipeg’s WSA North Stars in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

Dunbrack recruited Ally Read and Hannah Abenheimer from City’s gold-medal-winning team and hopes they help them take the next step.

“We’re going to be looking to get into that gold-medal game, and these guys have the experience to help get us there,” said head coach Jack Hutchison. The losses of all-star defenders Rica Santilli (injury) and Laurel Fougere (university commitments) could hurt Dunbrack’s chances.
