Director: Bent Hamer
Bent Hamer’s latest distillation of Scandinavian wit is a bit o’ wintry whimsy about a retired train driver who goes off the rails as soon as he leaves the track.
Odd Horten (Bård Owe) is great at keeping schedules but lousy at making connections. He’s driven the Oslo-Bergen run for more than 40 years, content to keep going back and forth with nothing more than his pipe to keep him warm at nights.
Until the night of his final run, when O’Horten discovers the train of life doesn’t need a destination.
Hamer has an ideal accomplice in actor Owe, who wraps O’Horten in a snuggly sweater of mystery yet still conveys the fire within.
