Spring Breakdown
Director: Ryan Shiraki

From Sundance premiere to straight-to-DVD bins, but you can’t say you weren’t warned.

This sand ’n’ sex laugher sat on the shelves for two years before Sundance provided 15 seconds of fame. It’s an attempt at a buddy comedy, a sort of female version of Old School. But not even the talented trio of Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch and Parker Posey and can save this scattershot selection of jokes that go from bad to worse.

The trio play nerdy college friends from the early 1990s who 15 years later find themselves heading to a spring break bash on South Padre Island. Hilarity doesn’t ensue.

Blame director Ryan Shiraki and the script he co-wrote with Dratch. The two share the mic for a totally unnecessary commentary track and there are also four deleted scenes and a gag reel.
