Eagles set for charity auction

The “Eagles In The City” sculptures seen all over Vancouver and across B.C. during the past year will be flying into the eager claws of the public tonight.

The Eagles will be auctioned off at The Great Eagle Gala & Auction, with the proceeds going to the B.C. Lions Society for Children with Disabilities.

Bidding for the sculptures starts at $2,000 and “they can go anywhere (up) to $50,000,” said Rick Harker, director of properties for B.C. Lions Society.

Tonight 34 Eagles will be auctioned off at The Westin Bayshore Vancouver, with the remaining 101 available online at www.GoBid.ca.

Harker, the official Eagle wrangler, said the sculptures were “heavily respected,” with “no graffiti problems.”

“(Our Eagles) were everywhere where people were crowded downtown (during the Olympics),” said Harker.
