Eastern Passage man charged with arson after Dartmouth blaze
A 34-year-old man from Eastern Passage is facing charges includingbreak and enter and arson after fire severely damaged a house on SkeenaStreet in Dartmouth last Thursday morning.
A 34-year-old man from Eastern Passage is facing charges including break and enter and arson after fire severely damaged a house on Skeena Street in Dartmouth last Thursday morning.
Fire officials were called to the blaze just before 11:30 a.m., and although it was brought under control within 30 minutes, there was severe damage done to the home. The fire started in the basement before spreading to the main floor.
Halifax Regional Police were called into deal with the fire after it was deemed suspicious by investigators. Police also say they were able to identify a suspect who was arrested at 3:23 p.m. Friday without incident.
No one was at home at the time of the blaze, but two cats perished inside the home.
The 34-year-old is also charged with uttering threats. He was scheduled to be in Dartmouth provincial court Friday afternoon.
