Dining remains pastime of choice for hot stars

The recent rain has apparently put the kibosh on location shoots for a number of productions over the past week, and we hear a number of stars are using the down time to catch up on their home lives back in L.A. for a few extra days.

For those who are still here, dining out remains the pastime of choice. Over at the Italian Kitchen, Corey Feldman — here shooting Lost Boys 2: The Tribe, a sequel to the 1987 cult favourite — popped in for a meal. And despite production delays, Joe Fortes certainly had its share of celebrity sightings last week. The seafood and chophouse played host to Matt Frewer, who stars in the Chris Haddock series, Intelligence, along with Bionic Woman star Miguel Ferrer. Steven Seagal also stopped by last week. Seagal is here shooting the action feature A Higher Form Of Learning, about a troubled detective who travels to Memphis in order to track down a pair of serial killers.

Additionally, former Wonder Years star Dan Lauria dined at Joe Fortes last week. Lauria was in town earlier this year shooting an episode of Psych, and is back filming the independent feature, It Came From Beyond Space, a sci-fi project being produced and directed by R.W. (Bob) Goodwin — one of the former exec producers of The X-Files.

Chris Carter returns to Vancouver

Speaking of The X-Files, pre-production on the second feature has already begun at North Shore Studios, and Chris Carter himself is back in town personally shepherding the early stages. Carter will direct the film, which was written by himself and X-Files veteran Frank Spotnitz.

B.C. extends film tax credits

At a special press conference inside a soundstage of North Shore Studios early last week, Premier Gordon Campbell announced that B.C. will extend its film tax incentives for another five years. The incentives amount to 30 per cent of labour costs for domestic productions and 18 per cent for international.
