Just in time for holiday shopping, the Eaton Centre has added an Apple iPhone application to its box of marketing tools aimed at attracting hip urban shoppers.
The iPhone application lets shoppers check out store sales, post notes to friends using Twitter or Facebook, track their mall gift card spending and find their way around the mall.
The application is one of 100,000 that can be downloaded from Apple’s iPhone App Store, said independent technology analyst Carmi Levy.
With the Eaton Centre being one of Cadillac Fairview’s flagship locations, the iPhone app is being put on trial over the holiday season and, depending on how it performs, may be rolled out to other Cadillac Fairview properties, according to Catherine Melchior, head of portfolio marketing for the mall’s owner.
Melchior said the cost to develop the application was “minimal” and is being provided as a service to retailers.
Shoppers can download the program for free.
