Mixing décor accessories, colour palettes and finishing textures not only keep us interested and excited about our home, it also infuses the space with personality.
Karen Sealy, a Toronto-based interior designer, says mixing styles is a challenge for designers at every level. Sealy offers these tips to mixing up an eclectic style:
•Use unexpected colour combinations like pink and grey, or coral and brown.
• Add character by using a variety of patterns, textures, and organic shapes. Think flocked wallpaper, hand-loomed throws and shapely mirrors.
• Mix and match materials, finishes, appliances and hardware like wood, stone, glass and metals. Adding a faucet with a unique finish, like Delta’s New Aged Pewter, creates a welcoming contrast when paired with a vessel sink, luxurious countertop or traditional dark cabinetry.
