A man who died suspiciously in Fort McMurray over the weekend has been identified as a 19-year-old from Edmonton.
Mounties say Christopher Cardinal recently moved to Fort McMurray from Edmonton and he was not known to police.
Cardinal, who was discovered by a bus driver last Saturday, was found laying unconscious in a park located in a neighbourhood that was not known for crime, Mounties said.
Cardinal later died in hospital.
“Chris is a kind, soft spoken, fun loving man, who enjoyed just being himself, playing the guitar, drawing, and he liked his video games, he enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash…,” read a group page created by his family on Facebook.
“He is a great person.”
Police are also looking for the public’s help in finding a dark blue or black duffel bag that Cardinal may have been carrying before he was found.
Mounties believe the bag may have been picked up by a passerby who was on foot, or by someone who was on a snowmobile, as track were found by investigators nearby.
A cause of death has not been released.
