Re: Increasing diesel trains? cited as health risk (Aug.?20)
Why build a highly polluting transit corridor with more than 464 diesel trains daily passing through neighbourhoods when electric trains are a much more efficient, clean and safe solution for the Georgetown GO expansion?
India, Britain and the United States are electrifying their rail corridors, and Canada should build an electric corridor from the outset to use infrastructure funds wisely and protect the health of those who live in the GTA.
Metrolinx plans on electrifying the Georgetown corridor in 15 years anyway, so it should build this corridor using the highest Environmental Protection standards as a matter of public interest. Our public funds should serve our public transit needs.
