Eleven first-time winners to get Governor General Literary Awards

This year’s Governor General Literary Awards will see eleven writers receive the award for the very first time.

Gov. Gen. David Johnston will hand out 14 literary awards on Thursday, each worth $25,000.

“This year’s recipients are excellent representatives of the talent and immense creativity of Canadian writers,” said the governor general.

The recipients include Dianne Warren for her novel Cool Water, and Jon Klassen for his illustrations in Cat’s Night Out.
