Embrace the darkness, city tells residents

The city is urging Edmontonians to go dark to be green for Earth Hour March 28.

“Earth Hour is a global lights out phenomenon lead by the World Wildlife Fund to show support for action on climate change,” said Coun. Don Iveson.

“Turn off your lights for Earth Hour.”

Citizens are urged to turn out their lights from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and any non-essential power sources, such as computers and coffee makers. The city, West Edmonton Mall and a number of sky scrapers have committed to going dark.

Between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. city hall plaza will be hosting family entertainment.
