Calgary paramedics were flying high yesterday after the official opening of the new Air Medical Crew Station at the Calgary International Airport.

Partnered since 2005, Calgary EMS already had space at the Calgary airport but has grown so much in two years they needed the new space.

Stuart Brideaux, spokesman for EMS, told Metro the new space is integral to the partnership formed between the two entities.

“The partnership with the airport has allowed them to be able to accommodate the support and space we needed to continue to maintain the services we provide. We provide tremendous medical support to those in the terminal as well,” he said.

The new location is now directly above the WestJet check-in, on the third level. EMS will continue to offer 24-hour support responding to more than 300 medical calls in the terminal a year.
