Already acknowledged as a “gold standard” by the International Commission on the Accreditation of Ambulance Services, Calgary EMS is also recognized as one of the most outstanding systems in North America.
In June, Calgary EMS will be the largest city to test pilot the new standards for national EMS, of
which currently there are none.
The pilot project will determine how national standards should be measured in the future and provide public transparency and accountability in the emergency medical services.
EMS Chief Tom Sampson is on the committee developing the first-ever standards to measure performance for medical services.
