Edmonton music fans will be singing the blues this weekend as Grammy-winner Jimmie Vaughan kicks off the Labatt Blues Festival on Friday night.
“We’re real happy with the lineup,” said the festival’s co-producer, Cam Hayden.
“It’s great to have Jimmie Vaughan back, he’ll be releasing his new album at the festival on Friday night. It’s going to be quite a show.”
Hayden said they try to present as wide of a variety of blues music that they can during the festival, which takes place at the amphitheatre at Hawrelak Park and spans over three days and 13 acts.
“That’s always been part of our philosophy,” Hayden said.
“To show people how varied the blues actually is.”
The festival is almost completely sold out; there will be a limited number of tickets available at the gate.
