The Edmonton Eskimos have signed import defensive back E.J. Underwood and defensive end Michael Williams, the club announced yesterday.

Underwood has spent time on the practice squads of the New York Giants, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills over three seasons from 2006-08 and during that time appeared in five pre-season games.

Before going pro, the six-foot-one, 190-pound Underwood spent three years at Ohio State before transferring to Pikeville College for his senior year in 2005, excelling as both a defensive back and kick returner.

Williams entered the pro ranks in 2007 with the Arena Football League’s Austin Wranglers. In his rookie season, the six-foot-four, 245-pound DE posted 26 tackles, 1.5 sacks, four pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.

He joined the Dallas Desperados in 2008 and dressed for 12 regular season games.
