EDMONTON - Edmonton Eskimos football player Adam Braidwood has been denied bail while he awaits trial in two separate assault cases.

Braidwood, who is 26, stared straight ahead as provincial court Judge John Henderson ruled that he will have to stay behind bars.

Braidwood is charged with aggravated assault on a man west of Edmonton and in an attack against his girlfriend at their home in the city.

The 6-foot-4, 274-pound defensive lineman has been in custody since he was arrested peacefully at his house.

The circumstances of the cases were discussed in court, but can't be reported because there is a publication ban.

Braidwood remains with the Canadian Football League team, but general manager Eric Tillman has said the Eskimos are monitoring legal developments.
