Estabrooks mum on convention centre decision

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Bill Estabrooks has an opinion on the proposed trade centre for downtown Halifax — but not one he is sharing with his colleagues or the public.

“I had a real opportunity to look over a lot of the specifics,” he said.

“There’s a couple more weeks of to and fro with my staff … (but) the decision is imminent.”

When asked what his recommendation was in regards to helping fund the project, Estabrooks said he is not willing to share it before he has a chance to discuss the matter with Premier Darrell Dexter.

He said he “would hope” the decision, along with the full report, will be made public this month.

The proposed convention centre is slated to be built on Argyle Street.
