An enticing aroma greets us as we enter Little Europe in the Hydrostone. Owned by the Hamachi Group, one of HRM’s dining success stories, it a small, charming restaurant with intriguing European scenes on the walls.

We sip a local red wine, Grand Pre’s Leon Millot ($21 half litre), while nibbling on our Calamari ($8.95) appetizer. Lightly breaded and flash fried, it’s tender and delicious, served with pesto aioli.

My pal chooses the Prawn and Chorizo Farfalle ($15.95). This bow-tie shaped pasta is tossed with spicy Spanish sausage, prawns, peppers and goat cheese as well as the house tomato sauce. It’s first rate.

Although less exciting, my Half Chicken with Jus ($11.95) is cooked perfectly tender, rotisserie style. The generous portion is served with tasty home-cut frites.

We complete our meal with one of my favourites — Italian Tiramisu ($5.95), a light sponge cake concoction with chocolate, coffee and mascarpone cheese.

The service is excellent and not rushed so we happily linger in Little Europe.
