Ex-minor hockey manager held on child porn charges

A one-time volunteer Toronto hockey manager has been arrested and charged with child pornography offences.

Ian
Duff has been charged with two counts of possessing child pornography,
one count of accessing child pornography and one count of making child
pornography.

The 50-year-old was involved with the Greater Toronto Hockey League starting in 2003.

Between
2003 and 2005 he worked with the West Mall Lightning club, first as an
atom coach and then manager of the minor peewee team.

In 2005 he
started as manager for the Toronto Ice Dogs peewee team, then went on
to manage the bantam division. In 2007 he became a midget-level trainer
as well as managing the bantam team. During his time with the club he
managed the minor atom and bantam age divisions.

Police say he was also involved with the Weston Wolves soccer club beginning in 2003 and ending after the 2006 season.

“We
were investigating a larger investigation that involved people
accessing child pornography on the Internet. This investigation led us
to Mr. Duff’s residence. We executed a search warrant yesterday and
(charges were laid) as a result,” said Det. Paul Krawczyk.

Duff is being held in custody and will appear in Finch Ave. W. court on Wednesday.
