Ex-students back teacher facing child-porn charges

Former students of a popular Vancouver teacher facing charges of possessing and distributing child pornography have created a Facebook group in his support.

Former students of a popular Vancouver teacher facing charges of possessing and distributing child pornography have created a Facebook group in his support.

Christopher Charles Ingvaldson, 40, who taught at St. George’s School, was arrested on Friday.
Since then, more than 400 people have joined the Facebook group “Mr. Ingvaldson is a great guy! Innocent until proven guilty.”

“I’ve read all of these posts on Facebook concerning Mr. Ingvaldson’s arrest ... and I truly believe that this is some sort of a joke,” it says on the group’s wall.

“The accusation of child pornography is a huge deal and it might damage his career/life. I believe, despite any outcome of this, Mr. Ingvaldson should pursue his career as a teacher.”

Ingvaldson was arrested after an “intensive two-week investigation,” Const. Jana McGuinness said.

“The investigation began when the VPD Vice Unit received information that a teacher from the school was allegedly accessing child pornography through a social networking website,” she said.

McGuinness said there’s no evidence to suggest any students or local children have been at risk.
