Expand transit to run 24-7: Report

This September, services on the Transitway will expand to 24 hours a day, seven days a week, if a transit report’s recommendations are followed.

That’s one of the many changes OC Transpo should be ringing in this fall, proposes a report coming to the city’s transit committee tomorrow.

According to the report, system-wide ridership levels are returning to normal levels more quickly than expected after the transit strike.

The changes are intended to increase service on busy routes and respond to ridership levels, however some of the changes may require more passengers to make transfers.

A new rapid transit bus service is being proposed from the new Riverview Station and Leitrim Station.

Route 145 would be changed to provide local feeder service in Riverside South.

The seven direct-to-downtown express routes in Orléans east of Tenth Line may be combined into four more frequent and more direct express routes.

In the Britannia, Richmond Road, Dovercourt, and Westboro areas, Routes 2 and 16 in these areas would be revised in an effort to make them more convenient, consistent, reliable services connecting these areas with the Transitway.
