If you want to get anywhere close to royalty, find a nice patch of grass this morning and wait.
Thousands of people are expected to crowd onto the Garrison Grounds and Halifax Common today to catch a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh.
They’ll land at the Halifax International Airport at 2:20 p.m. Prime Minister Stephen Harper and a long list of dignitaries will await them at the Garrison Grounds at 3 p.m.
Like at a rock concert, large screens will be set up so even those in the back can see what’s going on.
There will be musical performances, a 21-gun salute, and a flypast by the Snowbirds.
The Queen and the Duke will then spend 10 minutes greeting a few people in the crowd before getting in the motorcade for a short trip to the Halifax Common to see the Mi’kmaq Cultural Village.
