Nova Scotia driver licences and vehicle registrations expiring between Aug. 14 and Sept. 30 have been extended to Oct. 31 with the exception of temporary permits.
This action stems from continued unexpected periods of slow service and interruptions with the province's Registry of Motor Vehicles System.
Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations Minister Ramona Jennex says every effort is being made to resolve system issues as quickly as possible.
She says the department is taking this action now to make things a little easier for their clients.
A dedicated team of consultants continues to work to identify and address the root of the problem.
The province is notifying law enforcement agencies of the extension.
