Expo Latino finale ‘a little wet’

Armed with umbrellas, tarps, mittens, raincoats and toques, hundreds of Calgarians enjoyed the final day of the 2010 Expo Latino.

While 6,000 danced their weekend away at Prince’s Island Park, according to officials, yesterday was rainier, but that didn’t stop music lovers like Marci Maluta and Kim Preteau from enjoying the big musical draw, Oscar Lopez.

“This is why we’re here in the rain, but it’s absolutely worth it. We’re still having a really good time,” Maluta said.

“We’ve been here the whole weekend, but today we just had to dress in our winter clothes and bring some blankets,” Preteau added.

The weekend featured a variety of performers including Lopez, who also played with Rick Emmett and Pavlo, as well as a salsa dancing exhibition from the world-ranked Eric and Kelly.

Conrad Gonzales said it was his first time at the event, but he enjoyed the wide variety music from reggae to Mexican.

“I really enjoyed the different types of music and cultural attractions down here, even though it’s a little wet,” he said.
