Fair magical for special kids

It was smiles and magic yesterday morning for some lucky children at Family Fun Town.

Monday Morning Magic was an event for special needs children aged three to 12, with guests such as the Edmonton Eskimos making an appearance.

“We open up the Fun Town area just for them,” said event organizer Lara Gadowsky. “They have a chance to come and enjoy the fair, lots of space, no pressure, no big lineups for rides.”

More than 800 children were invited, with their parents, friends, and aid workers, totalling about 2,000 at the event.

“Those with limited mobility get lifted out of their wheelchairs by the Edmonton Eskimos, Edmonton Rush, or the military,” she added.

“Came out to show some support for the kids, and have a good time, and relax a little and have fun,” said Edmonton Eskimos running back Calvin McCarty.

McCarty and his teammates signed autographs and accompanied kids on rides.
