Forever 21 launches

Toronto bargainistas are all aflutter with the arrival of American fashion hub, Forever 21, which landed right at Yonge and Dundas Streets in our fine metropolis last week. Anyone who’s visited the States and loves a deal has likely discovered this wallet-friendly mecca, known for nutty-low prices on trend-driven clothing and accessories. Expect to find tons of stylish frocks you’ve seen in magazines — many priced under $30 — plus plenty of über-cheap jewelry, sunglasses, bags and shoes.

The chain is Los Angeles’ answer to H&M and is aimed at teens to 20-somethings, but funky females through to their mid-40s will fall hard too. The chain promises an equally fantastic men’s shop, which will open in the fall. Take a peek at www.forever21.com.

Markdown mania

Everyone knows that Old Navy rocks all the seasonal trends at prices that won’t eat up your budget, but when markdowns begin there is retail lunacy.

Right now, pop into your nearest location and enjoy the style nuggets almost all of which have been discounted by 50 per cent. This includes men’s, women’s, kids’ and maternity wear. FF scooped up various funky sundresses for $12, plus hip-skimming jersey tops for 6.99. Men’s bathing suits now start at just $10 and oodles of sandals and accessories have also been slashed. You snooze, you lose, so get there soon.

Costa Blanca beguiles

If you’re a size 12 or smaller, Costa Blanca is a great source for fashion- forward summery separates on the cheap — there are even more options for those who are size four to eight. Most of the current collection is priced below $50 with tons of sultry tops, cropped jackets, oodles of dresses and skirts tagged under $30.

They’ve also got chunky colourful bangles and large beaded necklaces, cool retro shades and a medley of huge bags on offer. Costa Blanca’s best buys are the tops (most in the $18 to $24 range). There is tons of selection — many have lace or beading, silkscreen printed imagery and unusual closures. And some of the extra-long tanks ($14) will stretch to fit up to size XL (16).
